Groovapolitan was formed when bass player Dario Salvi and drummer Chris Griggs got together to recreate the magic sound of the Meters. After a couple of years of gigging in the region and some personnel changes the band moved towards a more commercial sound.
Band members:
Dario Salvi – bass guitar and vocals. Dario has played all over Europe and the USA with his own bands and as backing musician. He plays his funky bass like few others!
James Porter – guitars. James is a very busy guitar teacher with an amazing musical background. His funky guitar is one of the core elements of Groovapolitan’s sound.
Hannah Salvi – trombone and more. Hannah’s musical background included graduating with a Music Production degree as well as performing in many bands and orchestra. Her trombone covers what other bands would use a full brass section to play.
Clare Durrant – vocals. Clare is the voice of the groove. Classically trained and a singing teacher Clare’s musicality and soulfulness brings warmth to the slick sound of the band.
Matt Furness – drums. The latest addition to the band. Matt is a very young musical talent and a very busy musician in the region. His bass drums will keep dancers going all night long.
