Andrew Harsley
Our annual evening of music provided by local young musicians, featuring Andrew Harsley, Norfolk Young Musician 2016, who will be performing Rachmaninov’s Sonata for Cello and Piano, Op. 19.
Andrew began cello lessons at the age of five in Norwich with Maja Passchier. In the years which followed, he became a regular performer at the Norfolk County Music Festival and with the Norfolk County Youth and National Children’s Orchestras. In 2012, Andrew took up a 6th Form place at Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester where he continued his cello studies with Gillian Thoday. Andrew was awarded first prize at this year’s Norfolk Young Musician Competition, and he is currently in the second year of his Bachelor’s degree at the Royal College of Music in London, where he studies with Melissa Phelps and is a regular performer with the RCM Orchestras and the Dolina String Quartet.
