This year’s Summer Pizzazz presents a trio from London and Norwich, and a solo electronics support set by Norfolk-based improviser David Ross.
ALATI is a flexible ensemble led by trumpeter Chris Dowding, with different combinations used for different projects. This concert will feature a trio version of the band with Brigitte Beraha (vocals), Chris (trumpet & flugelhorn) and Dave O’ Brien (piano). They will perform songs from poems by Alice Oswald and Colin Simms.
This will include two sets of songs from various collections by Alice Oswald, with a theme of the sea, water and birds, that runs through the two sets of songs. They will also perform three songs from poems about the hen harrier bird by Colin Simms. The songs feature Dave O’ Brien’s fluid piano playing and Brigitte Beraha’s beautiful vocals.
There will be a short support set by David Ross playing improvised electronics. David recently released his debut solo album on the Manchester-based Cusp Editions label , and has performed with this setup at More Music in Morecambe, as well as collaborating with woodwind improviser Clive Bell.
