This is the second year we have presented ‘Pizzazz’ at Spooner Row Church, on the day of the Spooner Row Village Fete. Pizza is available to order, through John Dowding (tel. 01953 607236). This year we present hymn and Arthur…
hymn is the trio of Chris Dowding (trumpet & electronics), George McKay (double bass), and David Ross (percussion & electronics.
They play spacious improvisations, informed by simple composed material. They have recently performed at the Vortex Jazz Club (London) and at Plink Plonk (a new improvised music night in Norwich).
hymn also occasionally work with guests, including violinist Sylvia Hallett, guitarist Anton Hunter, and electronics improviser Graham Dunning.

Arthur is the energetic trio of Simon Youngman (saxophone), Ben Higham (tuba) and Geoff Charlton (drums).
Initially inspired by the saxophonist Arthur Blythe’s trio of the same line-up, they now play a mixture of pieces by jazz composers such as Thelonious Monk and Herbie Nichols, original pieces, and improvisations.
Arthur has performed twice at the Vortex Jazz Club, at various venues around Norfolk, and in December 2016, were part of The Triple Bill Tour, a short UK tour of three new bands from Norwich, which was funded by the Arts Council.
